The first Phase One Advantage Series event of 2012 takes place Wednesday, Jan. 18 with four sessions between the hours of 1 & 5pm.

The New Year Shootout will give you a chance to see the difference a Phase One camera system – 645DF camera, IQ-Series digital back and Leaf shutter lens – can make.

Two shooting sets will be ready for you to work with: one set up with a live model for beauty shots and the other for still life photos.

What is Help-Portrait?

Founded by Celebrity Photographer Jeremy Cowart, Help-Portrait is a community of photographers coming together across the world to use their photography skills to give back to their local community. This global movement of professional photographers, make-up artists, hairstylists, and passionate volunteers are using their time, equipment, and expertise to give back to those who are less fortunate.
 

 
Vistek is proud to be sponsoring the Toronto Event, taking place Sunday, December 11 at the Ralph Thornton Community Centre. The event runs from 10am until 4pm and is open to the public, so come on out and support this incredible cause. Vistek will be there, with volunteers, taking photographs and printing 8 x 10s.

The latest in the the Phase One Advantage Series takes place Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011  from 3 to 7pm — and you’re NOT going to want to miss this one!

Taking place at Pink Panther Studios (7 Labatt Ave; parking is available at Vistek, which is walking distance from the venue), the 5-Minute Phase One Fashion Shoot Out will give you an opportunity to shoot two lovely models on two different sets (Karina H & Kelleth), with two different lighting setups, using the Phase One 645 DF Camera and IQ 140/160/180 camera backs, along with a selection of choice lenses.

Each participant will have five (5) minutes on each set – but the conditions are: you shoot the pre-lit sets as-is, with no light tweaking.

There’s an entry fee of $25  and you will be asked to submit one of your finished/re-touched Phase One files. And there’s an AWESOME catch:  The submissions will be judged, by the product manager at Phase One, and the best photo from each of the two sets will be awarded a $100 Vistek Gift Card as well as a framed 12” x 18” print.

We’re putting out the official call for submissions — to any and all interested in seeing their work featured in the Vistek Toronto or Vistek Mississauga Contact 2012 Galleries!

As you know, this annual Photography Festival runs during the month of May each year and offers up tremendous amounts of exposure to those artists displaying their work in one of the, literally, dozens of galleries around the GTA.

If you want to be one of those featured artists, submit up to 20 of your best web-resolution photos to Vistek via email no later than Friday, November 11, 2011. Be sure to include your contact info along with an Artist’s Statement* of approximately 100 words.

* (these are the deets required by the good folks at CONTACT)

• Exhibition Proposal: a concise one-page summary of your exhibition concept and content
• A corresponding list telling us the title and year of production of your work
• Your C.V. or any other pertinent bio info

Things are ramping up and plans are being set in motion for Exposure 2012: Calgary-Banff-Canmore Photography Festival. The event takes place in February and this year’s theme has been announced as: Insight.

Last year’s event saw an increase in attendance and, in fact, broke records in terms of galleries and venues who participated in the annual celebration of photographic arts. In addition to being part of the launch of the Gallery of Alberta Media Art (GAMA) at the EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts, Exposure saw over 50 emerging artists from across Alberta apply to be part of the Vistek Emerging Photographer Showcase. From the Top Ten, Jeremy Fokkens was awarded a $500 gift certificate from Vistek as well as a feature on the Exposure website (which can be seen by clicking the Emerging Photographer Award section.)
