R.I.P. Andrew MacNaughton: Feb. 25, 1964 – Jan. 24, 2012

Toronto photographer Andrew MacNaughton died Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the age of 47. Famous for his portraits of iconic Canadian celebrities, MacNaughton suffered a heart attack while on assignment in Los Angeles.

In addition to having been the principle photographer for Rush (since 1989), MacNaughton is well-known for his photos of Rufus Wainwright, Sloan, Avril Lavigne, Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, Peter Mansbridge, Margaret Atwood and the Trailer Park Boys. His resumé also boasts video direction for the likes of Great Big Sea and Michael Bublé. And his most recent work, Grace: Africa in Photographs, donated proceeds to Art Gives Hope – a charity he founded in 2006.
