Market News: Vistek chimes in on the POV Camera Market

This item was filled under [ News ]

The Vistek/Market News mutual admiration society continues in the magazine’s current issue, with a great piece on the Hands-Free POV Camera Market. Vistek’s Video Sales Manager, Fred Konkin, was kind enough to lend his knowledge & expertise to the article.

…Konkin agrees that the POV category is hot. “People buy them at a sporting goods shop to record their experiences, but we also attract the visually-oriented people with a lot of video experience, including those in the broadcast industry. They perceive greater value…for story-telling from a particular point of view on a show like the Rick Mercer Report.”

As you may have noticed we, at Vistek, love the photographers and the work that comes out of Westside Studio. If you’ve come in to just about any of our stores or have caught some of our advertisements you’ve seen the work of Westside photographers like Matt Barnes.

This shot, in particular is seen in a large format print in our Toronto location.

Video Virtuosity

Ever wonder what you could do if you had more than one camera shooting at a time?  How about 48? This week, Ryan Enn Hughes‘ latest endeavor, The 360 Project, answers that question. These videos have turned some serious heads, getting nods from Applied Arts Magazine and F-stoppers while turning the notion that still cameras are strictly for still photography — right on it’s head.
